Hi, my name is Marcia. I am a recruiter with the Nursing Support team, and I hire for Nursing Aide positions at our Taylor, Trenton and Wayne hospitals, Sterile Processing Specialists at our Dearborn hospital and Nurse Technicians at most of our East hospitals. My career in Human Resources has taken me from automotive, to government and finally, to healthcare. I started working for Oakwood Healthcare back in 2013 as a part time employee – I was drawn to the position due to the flexible work hours, proximity to home and opportunities to learn within my field. As the years flew by so did the changes that happened – from Oakwood to Beaumont Health to Corewell Health. We have updated many systems and processes along the way, but what has not changed is the focus on providing the best care to our patients and their family members.

What keeps you excited about staying at Corewell Health?
I am excited about working at Corewell Health because of our mission of improving health, instilling humanity, and inspiring hope. On a regular basis, our leaders share wonderful stories of how team members go beyond the daily responsibilities to meet the extra ordinary needs of our patients and their families by providing listening ears, daily necessities, and positive guidance. We are always striving to find more efficient and effective ways to help our patients heal and return to their regular way of life.

I have found a welcoming and supportive atmosphere in the various locations that I have worked within Corewell Health. I value the relationships that I have built with my co-workers, hiring leaders that I support, other key partners, and my direct managers. As a team member, my goal is to be known for my responsive to questions in a timely manner and finding possible solutions instead of dwelling on obstacles. Even though I don't directly interact with patients in my role, most of my hires do. Therefore, I want to bring individuals into our organization who want to make a positive impact on those they serve. I enjoy making connections with candidates as I find that each one brings some unique experience, insight or story that inspires me. My hope is that candidates find the best fit for a position with the organization, whether that is one that I recruit currently or one that I recommend that they explore. It is rewarding to offer a position to a candidate who is excited to start their career with us or beyond thankful for the opportunity.

I am not too particular about starting my day as far as coffee or tea, but I do like to indulge in some dark chocolate when I need a quick burst of energy. Ultimately, what feeds my soul is when I start my day building my faith through Bible readings and prayer. I am able to remain calm even when the day gets hectic. No two days are the same – you can plan on what you want to do but then you need to be ready for whatever comes up and takes priority!
