I’m Steve Suinda, a recruiter based in Saint Joseph, Michigan. I love helping people find roles that actually fit—not just on paper, but in real life. I’m big on building genuine relationships, having honest conversations, and making the hiring process feel a little more human. Whether I’m working with candidates or hiring teams, my goal is always the same: connect the right people with the right opportunities and make it a win for everyone.

What makes my work especially meaningful is that I live in the same community I hire for. This isn’t just a job to me—it’s personal. The people I extend offers to go on to care for neighbors, friends, and sometimes even me, and I see the impact of that every time I walk into a Corewell Health facility. There’s a real sense of warmth and nurturing in those spaces, and knowing I play a small part in bringing that care to life is incredibly rewarding. One of my favorite things about Lakeland Hospital is our volunteers. We even have some talented musicians volunteer to play piano at our hospital, helping patients and families feel more at ease. From day one, my onboarding experience made me feel like family. I was treated as an individual—welcomed as one of their own—and given a professional yet deeply personal experience, as if they had known me for years. That sense of belonging and care defines the Lakeland experience for me, and it’s exactly what I want to pay forward to every person I connect with.

I keep my daily journal on my desk and with me at all times. It’s where I jot down important notes, reminders, or anything I don’t want to forget. Writing things down gives me a sense of structure and clarity—even when I don’t look back at it right away, I know it’s there, and that alone helps me stay grounded and organized throughout the day.
